Langley, BC (October 1, 2012) - Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. announced today the launch of their new iceGUARD iG51v winter tire for light trucks and SUVs. As the latest addition to Yokohamas iceGUARD winter line, it offers drivers premium winter tire performance and a long-lasting tread life.
For 2012, the iceGUARD iG51v will be available in 30 popular sizes, fitting wheels from 16 to 20 inches in diameter. Its aggressive tread design, three-dimensional sipes and generous drainage channels enable the tire to perform confidently, even under the most adverse winter driving conditions. The tire's unique compound and construction delivers not only great handling but also unexpected long-term durability, more even wear, and reduced fuel consumption.
''Targeted at light truck and SUV owners looking for the highest levels of grip and control, the iceGUARD iG51v is ready to combat a variety of winter road conditions,'' said Trevor Longley, consumer business unit director for Yokohama Canada.
''The iceGUARD iG51v features our Multi-Grip compound,'' continues Longley ''Regardless if the weather calls for warmer temperatures and dry roads, or sub-zero temperatures with snow, slush or icy conditions, the compound is able to adapt and optimize its performance capabilities. It gives consumers the added confidence they need when driving during the winter.''
Features such as dual-action shoulder grooves, lightning grooves and slush grooves combine to give the tire better drainage characteristics for optimum traction and control. A variable-angle center rib ensures a continuous contact patch for excellent straight-line control and predictable braking. As a result of the adaptive and interlocking 3D sipes, the iceGUARD iG51v delivers a firmer footprint on the road for better traction, braking and more precise control regardless of the weather conditions.
Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. markets and distributes a full line of tires for high performance, passenger car, light truck, and commercial truck applications, as well as off-the-road tires for mining, forestry and construction applications.
